Specialty Transport
Large scale transport of antennas in Chile
Socitec participated in transporting antennas to be installed in the Atacama Desert in Chile. The international project involved several partners including ESO (European Organization for Astronomical research in the Southern Hemisphere).
The antennas were partly manufactured in France and had to be transported by sea, air, and land to South America without experiencing excessive shock and vibration.
Socitec provided critical support by designing a suspension system that effectively reduces loads to the antennas. The entire journey from France to Chile was carefully monitored to guarantee that the antennas were transported adequately.
Aircraft engine handling
Protection of aerospace equipment starts on the ground, as shock occurring during handling can damage equipment.
Socitec provided an isolation system for the trolley used to transport the engine of the A380 made by Rolls-Royce.
The integration of wire rope isolators ensured that this very fragile and costly equipment could be securely transported.
